Interest in wild game jerky has been growing the last few years due to it’s low fat content. Mountain America’s ostrich jerky is lower in fat than turkey, chicken, beef or pork and high in protein.
Chuck Watson, owner of Mountain America Jerky, has been selling gourmet jerky since 1997. Mountain America takes pride in being a small company that smokes their jerky on a daily basis. Their jerky is created using a handmade process: from slicing, to marinade, to the smoker and packaging. Chuck makes his jerky in Colorado in a USDA/FDA inspected facility.
Mountain America Ostrich Jerky is a basic black pepper recipe made from solid strips of ostrich. After opening this ostrich jerky you will notice the jerky is a medium cut. Upon first taste you will detect the ostrich flavor followed by the hickory Smoke, then brown sugar and soy. Unlike much jerky on the market, there is very little salt flavor. As you continue chewing, the black pepper becomes more noticeable, but at no point overpowering.
It is a good chew and bo fat is detected while chewing. To be such a lean cut of meat, we were surprised that the ostrich jerky still retains moisture.
